i have table has, column family, url, when attempting scan table shell using -c argument limit column families returned no results. suspect : in url beingness interpreted separator between column family , column qualifier. question is, there way escape or quote colon interpreted part of string column family?

not @ time, no. looking @ code, each column split colon, first part beingness column family , sec part column qualifier. because number of parts limited 2, mean can scan entries colons in column qualifier, doesn't help here.

as alternative, best bet utilize java api, using fetchcolumnfamily on scanner or batchscanner.
