i have imported info monolithic csv file ms access. 1 of fields notes can pretty much anything, or length. regardless, content repeated across records.

so have split each unique note new table , added 'autonumber' field serve primary key. far.

the problem need link original table new notes one, original table has no knowledge of id should match note, , unable replace note id.

i cannot link note field on original table note field in note table (nor want to) because fields 'long text'.

since can't bring together on memo fields in access, need create cross bring together , filter id's equal. there, it's update:

update products, notes set products.noteid = notes.noteid (products.notes=notes.notes);

sgeddes has same thought in code well.
