Protect existing entries in an Access database -

Protect existing entries in an Access database -

i new access , have limited database knowledge. possible lock/protect entry made specific user other users cannot alter field/entry again? there way see user entered info in particular field?

access not have security mechanisms describe. older - , deprecated - "user-level security" mechanism access .mdb files (mentioned in answer) not allow protect entries @ row level.

an before question here

how can access form prevent editing of field 1 time saved?

talks how offer such protection within access form, not address possibility of user straight opening table , editing way. such, question simply asking "convenience" feature help prevent users inadvertently changing something. forms-based command mechanism not offer finish security.

if need more robust security (e.g. audit purposes) need utilize different database back-end. still utilize access build forms , reports, operate on odbc linked tables more sophisticated database engine sql server (or similar).
