How to construct a 64K x 8 memory chip using 16K x 1 memory chips? -

i trying build 64k x 8 bit memory chip in logisim using 16k x 1 chips. trying figure out how many chips need, , how select lines , memory banks should organized.

i know can utilize 8 of 16k x 1 chips create 16k x 8 chip. initial thought have 4 memory banks each containing 8 of 16k x 1 chips, total of 32 chips. correct?

i know 64k x 1 chip need 16 select lines; how alter in 64k x 8 chip?

i don't know if asking right questions here. examples have utilize decoder select memory bank, , to the lowest degree important address lines select location within each chip, much smaller systems.

any advice or hints point me in right direction appreciated!

yes, need 32 chips. chips connect 4 output bits same bit in bus (i.e. 4 x 8). thing need decoder 2 highest address bits. 2-to-4 decoder connected chip enable of 4 banks of memory.

usually memory chips have both address lines (14 in case of 16kx1 chips) plus @ to the lowest degree 1 ce (chip enable line). connect same 14 lowest address line bits chips address lines.

just create sure decoding logic enables 1 chip bank @ time.

(btw, if have difficulties routing address lines, may rearrange them way want, long in same order @ each memory chip.)
