postgresql - Why do != and <> both exist in postgres? -

what difference between != , <> operators? 4 answersas might imagine, i'm having hard time googlin' this, know why <> , != both exist, if they're identical?
my best guess 1 sql standard or it's historical, hoping knew actual reason. might apply more postgres also...
the official sql standard operator inequality <>, due popularity of c , c-like languages (eg java), practically databases back upwards != alternative <>.
there no effective difference between them.
