ruby - Regex help: Targeting text between *| and |* -

i'd love help me regex. i'd able isolate regex observe characters in string below between * | , | *:

hello "*|first_name||default_value|*"

i appreciate help.

use this:

if subject =~ /\*\|\k.*?(?=\|\*)/ match = $&
