openerp - Create menus, sub menus and actions -

i have been looking way create menu item, , sub-menus relative menu.

i want menu users see when log in, instead of "messaging" menu.

basically: want menu on top of page, , has first one. menu needs menu users see when login. on left bar of openerp, want add together few external links. on body of page, want write welcoming text.

how do this? need create new module? or much simpler?
