i curious whether has seen positive results creating tmpfs filesystem , mounting $rails_root/tmp folder on production applications, particularly on deployment front?

we have been running torquebox , asset compilation takes considerable amount of time @ present. brainstorming , thought crossed our minds of using tmpfs tmp folder , curious kinds of gains might see in both asset compilation , perhaps general performance if has tried similar previously.
