sockets - Which (tcp/udp) ports are best suited to be implemented at the server side of a mobile application? -

since isps company networks (eg. when connected via wifi) tend block different ports, there best practise of choosing specific portnumber when developing server part of mobile app?

i talking selection of listening port on sever, app connects (either udp or tcp), not open port on mobile device.

what found far different people on net mentioned using high port number (like 50k upwards) appropriate, since not assigned (which makes sense me, except might altogether blocked) so others suggest using port 80 (if possible), since gets blocked anyone again others suggested using ports 81 or 8080 (but seems worst of both worlds since 8080 on 1 hand used proxying, on other hand blocked same reason)

as me, implement simple websockets server on other port 80 (if @ feasible), more interested in pick best practice (also udp).

thank all!

sockets networking tcp port serversocket
